Workshop Description (Limited to 10 students)
Most of us have something that we consider to be significant or special in our lives. This workshop is an invitation to explore the creation of a personal shrine to be a repository for the story of places, things, people, pets, dreams, wishes, celebrations, life events or other experiences that are meaningful to you. Your shrine will provide a space to reflect upon and honor this story. Creating a shrine is not necessarily a religious act but can be a purely personal endeavor. Making your own personal shrine can be a very powerful enjoyable and enlightening experience. As an artist, you will be taking a bit more freedom with the definition of a shrine. All that is required is knowing what you love, a little creativity, and a few basic materials.
In this exciting two-day workshop, we’ll experiment with a variety of mixed media, collage and assemblage techniques and materials such as found objects, air dry clay, beads, trims, ephemera, and more to create our beautiful and unique personal shrines.
