Workshop Description:
Shuptrine uses many of Wyeth’s works and subject matter as inspirations. For this class, he will focus on weathered farm homes and clapboard buildings, shadows, and distant fields of grass. Wyeth’s preferred techniques being covered in the class include drybrush watercolor, layering of washes, and detailed Realism. Don’t be intimidated! This class will be a fun, extensive and immersive class!

Alan Shuptrine (1963- )
Renowned for his mastery in the arts, Shuptrine is a nationally awarded artist and a master craftsman. He is a leading practitioner in the centuries-old art of handcrafting and water gilding fine art frames and mirrors, wood carving, and sgraffito etching. He is also a painter known for his realistic watercolors, oils, gold leaf panels. His bold, yet sensitive and thought-provoking works, frames, and restoration pieces are in the permanent collections of many American museums and hundreds of corporate and private collections nationwide. Born the son of recognized painter, Hubert Shuptrine (1936-2006), Alan has continued the legacy of realism in watercolor that both Andrew Wyeth and his father Hubert established. Read More
