Course Objective and Description:
Leave the tiny detail brushes at home and join us for a fast-paced, fun-filled learning experience to loosen up your paintings!
You have probably heard the expression “you have to slow down to speed up”. Initially, when learning our craft, it is necessary to procced methodically and thoughtfully taking careful stock of composition/placement, major value masses and selection of color harmonies, etc. Doing so, ahead of putting brush to canvas, will increase your chances for a successful outcome. On the flip side, if you feel your painting has gotten too rigid, too tight and you are looking to loosen up and throw caution to the wind, this course may be for you!
Conducted in oils (acrylic painters are also welcome), we will start week one of this course doing timed paintings (yep; I’ll be setting a timer), using a limited palette and larger brushes. No worries: I’ll demonstrate prior to these exercises. Then, weeks two – four we will take a dive into clouds and skies applying our newfound freedom to expressively paint this beautiful subject matter. We will also look at Master Copies to incorporate various techniques, compositional stems and color harmonies into our personal cloud and skies paintings. Experience recommended for course: Not for beginners but for all other levels (as long as you have some painting experience).

Bio and Artist Statement
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Patricia studied drawing and painting in the classical realist tradition with Pennsylvania Master Artist, Richard House, and prominent Baltimore portraitist Elizabeth Byrd Mitchell (founder of the Mitchell School of Fine Arts). Patricia used this foundational training as a catalyst to develop skills that enable her to paint all subjects, such as still life and animal painting.
Patricia lived in Oxford, England, for two years. While there, she studied with artist Marcus Hodge (known for his equestrian, portrait and more recently, contemporary paintings). His bold and abstract approach to painting greatly influenced the way Patricia thinks about and approaches her work today.
Patricia believes in continuing education, “as we are all students for life” and has studied through various online programs and in person workshops.
With a recent move to Daytona Beach, Patricia has found inspiration in the varied landscapes and skies of Florida. She is also involved with local plein air painting groups. She is an Associate Member of the AIS (the American Impressionist Society) and a member of NOAPS (National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society).

PATRICIA A. DOMANSKI ARTIST STATEMENT “Painting is an abstract process, a process of discovery. Textures, value, the nature of light, and composition all unfold to create a final artwork that evokes emotional responses such as happiness, mystery, wonder, longing and love. A painting tells a story and reveals a tiny glimpse into the soul of the artist”.
